The freight charge was nearly 1/2 the price of the card. I live on the east coast but I did not expect to pay almost 43% in freight. This was standard shippng, no expeditd service. Wen I asked for justifcation from the company, I was told too bad.
I had a 256mb card used in a Linux firewall, and it failed recently. At least half the card is unreadable all the sudden. I do have backups though!
Since the write performance was lousy, I setup ram disks to take over the busy areas that see the most activity. Essentially, only /etc /bin /sbin /usr/sbin and /usr/bin were read/write on this card (nearly no write activity). Changes were only committed on an as needed basis (ever week or so). Oh well…
the chord was just like brand new… actually i think it was brand spanking new! i just ordered the wrong one cuz it was for a scanner rather than for transferring pics from a camera to a computer.
Chip works like a charm – holds several hundred digital photos.
