This product is very study with a hard “shell-like” cover. My LaCie Rugged Hard Drive fits perfectly in it, and there is even a pocket inside for about 2 cords. It keeps my Hard Drive protected and clean!
As I have explained in a lot of my previous HD reviews, I am an architectural photographer and use a lot of HD’s. I stopped using standard hard drives and switched to portable for a lot of reasons including the lack of an external power supply and overall size. I travel a lot with my job and I am constantly bringing hard drives back and forth from my house to my photo studio and back again. Basically my HD’s see a lot of wear and tear from traveling which is why I always buy these cases for my portables. Even if your using the Lacie Rugged series your still much better off using one of these cases. Its just another layer of added protection.
Overall you really couldn’t ask for much more in a case. First its a nice, simple pleasing design. Some people may want a bunch of funky graphics on their cases but I don’t. I like the nice clean look of these cases. It goes very well with all of my Lightware photography cases as those are all black as well. This may not be important to some people but I take my image very seriously in my business and that goes right down to my equipment and the cases I buy for my equipment.
Unlike a lot of other cases out there, this case actually has a hard shell exterior which IMO is far better than a soft shell when protecting this kind of equipment. an internal strap keeps your HD secure in the case and a standard zipper seals the case up. Its has everything that a case like this needs. Anything else would be overkill.
I actually use a weatherproofing agent on the exterior of the case just to give it an extra level of protection as I have actually had quite a few storms roll up on me in the middle of a photo shoot before. Its very easy to do and only takes a minute or so to apply. The exterior material is perfect for waterproofing.
The bottom line – if you use portable HD’s then why not spend an extra 10 bucks for some added protection. For those out that there that travel a lot with their HD’s, these cases should be considered mandatory. I really cant see what you could do to possible improve this design.

This case was a great deal, good quality at a great price. I needed a good case for my harddrive which is really important to me and this item fit the bill. Its hardshell casing is very durable ( Ive dropped it accidently on more than one occasion) and withstand most of the elements. The size is perfect and the elastic strap keeps it nice and snug. The mesh pocket holds any extra accesories that I may need to carry as well. It would be nice if it had a handle or wrist strap, but other than that its perfect for what I need.
Appears to be well constructed. LaCie Rugged Drive fits nicely inside and appears to be well padded. Only drawback is that there is not a place to insert card or otherwise label which drive is within the case
