Seagate FreeAgent Go 640 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive ST906403FAA2E1-RK

I’m glad I made a very good choice. It’s a sleek, silent and lightweight drive and it’s probably the highest capacity for its size. The software seems to be good enough. Conclusion: I highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking for both super portability and high capacity.
This external drive is a good value. I like the high capacity, sleek look and ease of use. I just plug it into any USB port on my computer to backup files and access the drive. I purchased the leather case for it which both the hard drive and cord fit into nicely.
This is a sweet little hard drive. It’s the perfect size, and so intuitive to use. I paid a little more for the expedited shipping, and this thing showed up crazy fast.
I would recommend this device to anyone looking for a super portable (large) hard drive. I take this thing back in forth between my Acer Aspire One, and an older Dell Inspriron laptop, and it works perfect. You cannot go wrong with this drive..
Following my recent laptop purchase, a portable hard drive was the first order of business – I needed a drive that was ultra compact and usb powered.
My decision for choosing the FreeAgent Pro 640GB was not only a matter of design preference over WD’s Passport drives, but Seagate is offering the highest capacity of its class at this time, at a great price.
The drive is indeed small, lightweight, and comes preformatted right out of the box. Just plug it in and start your transfers. The speed of the drive is decent, but the ambient effect of the strobing LED’s kind of made up for it..
My only complaint was that the USB cord included is way too short – it’s not even as long as the height of my mid-tower PC, which means it won’t reach the from USB port if I rest the drive on top of the tower. Well, at least you get one, right?
Of course, the super hard-to-open packaging was the real buzz-kill of the experience – I mean seriously, you need a die-grinder to break the plastic with minimal effort. But once it’s open, congratulations.
I bought one to use for photgraphs storage and to backup my data directory for my desktop PC. This unit is also compatible with Western Digital’s multimedia player & requires no outside power source when used with this player, or with your computer. It copies quickly, have had no problems with it whatsover, it is lightweight & easy to take anywhere in your shirt pockect, the availability of a docking stand for it adds even more vesatility. The commentary saying that it is only 500MB is just plain wrong, my 640 has 596 available MB not including the backup program that is on it that you can elect to use or ignore. I did use the backup software & it is good to go, especially if you want to target certain directories & backup at automatic intervals (like maybe every night at 3:30 AM.)
Bonus- It is an attractive drive, very sleek & colorful, for those of you that like your stuff to look cool.
